Chub, I can certainly agree with you. Like you, I turn my radio on only when I need it. The hatefull talk is only because it's safe to talk like that behind a radio. These yo-yos wouldn't dare talk that s__t face to face with another person looking at them. Most of them couldn't start a fight, much less win one.
It really is comical how truckers in a truckstop or on a fuel island are so polite and nice to one another, but let them get back in that truck and within a quarter mile of the parking lot they are ready to run over each other and the world in general.
It's changed a lot since I started beatin' it up and down the road back in '78. Make no mistake. We had our share of a__holes out there then as well, but just didn't seem to be quite so many of 'em. Back then, the F.C.C. would pull your radio AND fine you for talking trash and cussing on air. Ah, maybe the good ol' days really were after all.
Keep smiling, my Brother. At lleast we're on the right side of the weeds.

`I haul quite a bit of oversize and use my cb to communicate with my escorts... Most times in daylight only states I have to get off 19 just to be able to talk to my escorts. It makes it hard to communicate with other drivers, but most of the stupid ones are to busy talking on their cell phone while going 58mph in a lane they shouldn't be in anyway. Driving at night is better on the radio and being on the old highways usually is too.
I deplore the language that I'm always hearing on the radio, and try to ask myself before I key up if I could say it in front of my mama. Especially cuz she is usually running my front door as an escort. I don't think I've cussed on the radio in about 6 months now, and the last time I did it was cuz a Roehl driver on his cell phone ran my escort (and mama) off I65 into the grass.

`The thing that bugs me about that cb in my truck is that I don't get a moments peace sometimes out there. If one more guy rolls up on me and motions for me to turn it on just so they can ask me to flash, I swear I will personally start kicking arse out here. I am not a whore and demand the same respect that you would give your mom or sister or daughter. All I want is to earn me a decent living like the rest of y'all. I realize that not every man out there is a butt, but come on. For those that are, learn some manners and quit stereotyping.

My grown son has a CB in his pick-up truck and he says he put it in because when traveling long distances to hunting locations listening to it has helped him from that lead foot he has, backing off of the accelerator. He just said this past weekend though, it seems that the CB radio has morphed into a Truckers Reality Show in that a lot of the truckers get on the CB to "perform" so to speak and do truck driving karaoke. LOL It's merely a time passer and a chance to talk to other human beings. My son and his group of travelers when they go hunting usually run on a different and more obscure channel so they avoid all the BS out there on 19. Do whatcha have to do to make those miles click away I suppose. May as well have some fun doing it and helping others out along the way.
