many times i have heard drivers talk about extending oil drains out to 30k and every time i have heard those drivers come back and say that if they had only known better they would have looked into better maintinence practices. DRIVERS WRITE THIS ON A ROCK!
the number one cause of premature engine failure is extended oil drains
the only way to protect your bearings ,rings ,liners ,and bull gear is to change oil regularly!
i wont tell anyone how to maintain their equip. but i will tell you what i do i drain oil at 9 to 12 thousand refill only with delvac and 2 gallons lucas
some folks seem to think that its a waste
i was just at eddies in rapid city and went for a monometer check ride
results ? 3 in displacement 8 in would be considered in spec. not shabby right?
just one more thing my 60 series detroit has 623,000 miles on it.. beat that with extended drains!!

`15,000-ish here. mobil delvac and 1 gal. of lucas. Cummins recommends Rotella, but my ISX seems to like Delvac better. Smoother, quiet, and performs better.

1,000,000 miles w/o an oil change? WOW! why run oil at all? just fill it with metal shavings! you'll get the same results.

Personally, I think that's asinine.

`a million miles without an oil change, wow. I've been at this for a lot of years and when someone can show me an engine that is still running after a million miles without and oil change and can prove it. I will believe it.
I have a series 60. I change the oil once a month whether i need to or not. I run a gal of lucas in with the fresh oil and never have to worry about viscosity breakdown, plugged filters or any of the other things that bad oil will cause.

`Just seen an ad taunting just that---TA sells the filter that accomplishes this. Of course they got drivers to back it up. Looking into it myself. Most have gone close to a million with no engine problems. Wanting more information.
