I' almost in the same boat as you are, except fortunately I never did let my CDL go. Most trucking companies will not touch you unless if you have recent experience in the last 3 years. I'm trying to get back running 48 states again, but for right now I have to drive for this local company that did except in. I'm going to stick with that for at least 6 months, and then try again to go back OTR. I want to get back out to the west coast to see family again.

I have'nt had the problem that you have, however; if all else fails get with a company that will train you and go through the motions again. I have no idea how you lost you're cdl to begin with, but once you get that cdl some company will hire you. It might require you going through the alphabet of companies, but someone will hire you. STUDY THE CDL BOOK!

you know you all may not want to hear this, but I know for a fact that Swift has a new policy that if you have 1 year otr in the last 5, they will hire you. it statrted ai guess just this past week. so if you all out there are looking and have been out of a truck for awhile, call swift. they cant tell you it is not policy now, i heard it from a great source that it is indeed the case now. you can always go there. i know, i know, i have heard the rumors and the horror stories about them too, but i heard some good things about them as well. and if anyone out there is looking for something closer to home and live on the east coast, you can also try nationwide southeast. nwlog.com is their website.. i just stopped driving for them, they are a local company with half decent nice trucks and you deliver bulk mail alot ... just a thought ...
