We have been searching the internet for info on what trucking companies to shoot for when we get out of school. Don't want to go with a bad company! Can you help us?

`I assume neither of you have trucking experience? You'll concentrate in the beginning to obtain OTJ training without too long a commitment to the initial company, you will end up "training" separately and may be 6 months or more before you can be qualified to run as your own team.

Schneider has a decent training program from what I can gather, they also have a "team" division offering team freight.

Do you want to truly run as a hard working team? (i.e. running 6500 miles plus per week, rarely stopped) or do you maybe want to run as a 3/4 team? (run team one hard week, then run as single one week to "stop and smell the roses" from time to time)

If you want to make money as a team, you'll need to find a company that does a lot of coast-to-coast freight such as freymiller and prime and a few others ... or at least a 1500 mile average length of haul. Look for meat and produce hauling operations. It will help if you live on either coast or perhaps near a major plains meat processor if you choose to maintain a residence somewhere.

EDIT: BTW, try and avoid any offers to "lease or lease to purchase" in order to work for a company until you're both sure you can live the lifestyle long-term. (wait at least a few years before you commit to a lease. There are company truck operations out here that can keep a team busy but you have to seek them out.
