Long haul was almost right for me and I don't regret it, but family is very important as well, and I want to be closer to my parents while they're still here. I drive a big yellow bus now, when school is in session, and I enjoy cross country when the opportunity arises, like Ohio to Oregon with a bus that the company needed to move. But it's good to be home when I get there. Given time and opportunity, I like to fish, and to camp, either in a tent or just sleeping on a mattress in my van, which really simplifies the process. I grew up in the Northwest, and rain doesn't bother me until over a week of steady drizzle, and I do miss the sun when I haven't seen it for a while. I try to be a frugal minimalist, but there are things I do, like play harp and viola, and sew, that takes a certain amount of gear, so I'll never succeed at the 100-item challenge. I also dream of being self-sufficent, but without a few acres and more homesteading skills that might remain a dream. I'm good with animals, if I could just find someone who's good with plants. I do write, and I have the first three books in a sci-fi/fantasy series about human-animal hybrid creatures that were genetically engineered by ancient aliens.
